Cher took an opportunity to drop the f-bomb about Bill Maher last night on ‘The Late Show with David Letterman’ in reference to a joke the ‘Real Time’ host had made about her transgendered son Chaz Bono. In the midst of a serious discussion about what it means to be transgendered and the courage it took to go through with the change while being in the celebrity limelight, Cher mentioned that the controversial HBO comedian/pundit had gone too far.
“Bill Maher kind of pissed me off,” she said. “He had a picture of Chaz, saying she was going to do transgender, and then he had a picture of me in, I don’t know, probably that outfit,” referring to her classic 80s thong look she wore back when Dave was still doing ‘Late Night.’ “It seems that everyone loves that outfit,” she continued. “And he goes ‘but if this was your mother, you would, too.’”
Letterman asked “Now what does that mean?” and Cher shrugged. “I don’t know. F–k him.”
Cher’s no stranger to cussing people out on TV, though. Back in 1986, she called Letterman an a-hole to his face during an earlier ‘Late Night’ appearance. That hatchet was buried a long time ago, though – enough so that she was even game to run down a list of her past celebrity paramours, including Warren Beatty, Tom Cruise, Gene Simmons, Eric Clapton, Elvis Presley and Marlon Brando.
