In a statement Thursday AMC politely announced they “will not be renewing” thriller ‘Rubicon‘ for a second season. Yes, this is the nice way of breaking up with a series that quickly lost buzz and struggled in ratings. But hey, they had have at least one disappointment among their many successes, right?

“‘Rubicon’ gave us an ¬†opportunity to tell a rich and compelling story, and we’re proud of the series,” the statement reads. ¬†”This was not an easy decision, but we are grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such a phenomenally talented and dedicated team.”

The James Badge Dale-starring political drama marks AMC’s first original series cancellation. Recent hit ‘The Walking Dead‘ was just picked up for a second season, while ‘Mad Men‘ and ‘Breaking Bad‘ return in 2011.
