This week some of the political press has posed the question: Is there a right-wing conspiracy to keep Bristol Palin on ‘Dancing with the Stars‘?

Here’s what’s fueling the ‘conspiracy’ theory:

1. Bristol Palin is one of the weakest dancers on Season 11, yet she’s lasted longer in the competition than some other dancers considered better than she is, such as Audrina Patridge and Rick Fox. Okay, maybe that’s not a fact per se, but it is the general consensus.

2. Her mother, Sarah Palin, has loads of supporters.

3. Her mother’s supporters are rallying behind Bristol to help get her votes. Example: Conservative activist/author/Palin supporter Tammy Bruce recently sent a Tweet asking people to vote for Bristol. The Tweet read: “Operation Bristol waltzes in tonight! As #DWTS starts vote at abc.go.com Tweeps pls tweet phone info, will RT.”

4. “Operation Bristol,” according to The Daily Beast has been posted on Palin fan sites, including www.Conservatives4Palin.com and www.us4Palin.com.

So what does Bristol think of “Operation Bristol?”

“Never heard of it,” she told reporters backstage after her performance on Monday night. Ironically, it was a night that many thought was Bristol’s best dance to date.

When informed what “Operation Bristol” is, her partner Mark Ballas was eager to defend: “I think the votes are coming from people that are truly fans of what this show is actually about. It’s about taking someone that’s never danced before and turning them into a dancer. And from Week 1 to now, making it to Week 8, thankfully to all our awesome fans, the improvement is out of sight. And it’s inspiring to people at home with normal lives doing their normal jobs just going about with their families who are like, ‘That’s what I’d be like.’ And people find that inspiring.”

“I totally agree,” said Bristol. “I don’t think it has much to do with my mom’s political background at all. I think it’s ridiculous to say that they’re all pulling together and having this campaign for me because obviously there’s more than that. There’s more supporters out there that are voting.”

Though she was quick to add, “But we’re thankful for all our fans out there. It doesn’t matter who they are.”

But even former contestant Margaret Cho thinks Palin is being helped by political voting. “Because Republicans vote,” Cho told us as to why she thinks Bristol is still on the show. “Because they’re organized. We know that Tea Party loves to vote. But I actually really loved her tango tonight.”

Unlike past weeks, Bristol said even she will be voting for herself this week. And she might need the votes because even though it was arguably her best week all season, the judges still only gave her three 8s, which frustrated the pair. “We got all 8s last week and I think this performance was night and day compared to that,” said a confused Bristol.

Why didn’t the judges score them higher this week? “No idea,” said Mark. “Maybe [Carrie Ann's] a Democrat. I don’t know what it is … I’m just kidding. It’s a joke. Don’t run with it.”
