Demi Lovato, 18, has excused herself from the international concert tour she has been doing with the Jonas Brothers, and entered a treatment facility to address some “emotional and physical issues.”
“Demi Lovato left her tour early this weekend in order to seek medical treatment for emotional and physical issues she has dealt with for some time,” a rep for the singer/actress says in a statement. “Demi has decided to take personal responsibility for her actions and seek help. She is doing just that.”
According to TMZ (which first reported the news), Lovato is not seeking treatment for drug use, and there is talk that her decision was spurred by a recent physical altercation with a female member of the tour.
A source told The Associated Press that in the past, Lovato had entered treatment to address an eating disorder and her habit of cutting herself.
Lovato’s ‘Camp Rock 2‘ tour with the JoBros, currently making the rounds in South America, is next set to hit Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Santiago, Chile, starting Tuesday.
“[Demi] regrets not being able to finish her tour,” says the rep’s statement, “but is looking forward to getting back to work in the near future.”
In addition to two ‘Camp Rock’ TV-movies and ‘The Princess Protection Program,’ Lovato also stars on ‘Sonny With A Chance,’ which has run for two seasons on Disney Channel.
