As the subject of Rolling Stone‘s November 11 cover story, Conan O’Brien both looks back on his infamous ouster from NBC’s ‘The Tonight Show‘ and looks ahead to his (possibly illegal?) plans for his new talker, ‘Conan‘ (premiering Nov. 8 on TBS).

‘Conan’s First Guests Revealed – Except For One Mystery Visitor

Reflecting on the morning that followed his final turn as ‘Tonight Show’ host, Conan tells the magazine, “I felt like I’d just been in a car accident.”

The wave of emotions he experienced included “a crazy mix of elation, anger, sorrow,” he says. “Confusion was a big one.”

“My wife says those first couple of months, the thing I said most often was, ‘Wait a minute, what just happened?’” O’Brien shares.

Though the funnyman quickly busied himself with a concert tour, then the inking of a deal with TBS, during the downtime that immediately followed “Conan was miserable,” his wife Liza Powel says. “That was when he was the most depressed.”

Now, Conan anxiously awaits the premiere of his TBS talker, which though new in home and name will retain some of his favorite ‘Late Night’ bits – NBC lawyers be darned.

“If there’s something we did for a long time that we’ve established as ours, we’ll figure out a way to do it,” O’Brien says in a Rolling Stone excerpt cited by The Hollywood Reporter. “I won’t be denied my Masturbating Bear!”

In fact, O’Brien says the ideal would be to get sued “and then appear in court with the Masturbating Bear. ‘Your Honor, this bear can’t help himself!’”

Which of O’Brien’s recurring ‘Late Night’/'Tonight Show’ bits and characters do you hope make the move to ‘Conan’?
