After months of speculation, MTV confirmed that it has canceled ‘The Hills’ spin-off, ‘The City,’ after two seasons.
Series star Whitney Port let the cat out of the bag Monday on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show: “As of right now it doesn’t really look like we’re doing it anymore.”
The budding fashion designer kept her emotionless spirits in check by saying she’s “working on some other things” and adding, “It’s OK — one door closes and another opens.”
Confirmation from the network came later in the day:
“‘The City’ will not be returning to MTV for season three,” said an MTV spokesperson to The Hollywood Reporter. “Whitney has been a part of our family for many years and we wish her and the cast the best, and hope to collaborate with them again.”
Does this mean they have to quit their fake jobs at Elle now?
Earlier story from June…
‘The City‘ is bustling with drama.
Erroneous reports circulated Monday claiming that MTV was canceling the reality show after this season.
The fashion darlings were quick to hush the wicked whispers, denying any suggestion that their show is falling apart at the seams.
Whitney Port set the record straight with a note on her blog: “The rumors are FALSE.”
To my friends and fans,
I want to clear the air and let you all know that the rumors that have been circulating about The City being canceled are NOT true! When I checked my Twitter and Facebook pages this morning, I was overwhelmed with your kind words and support. I am 100% committed to the show and thank you all for being the best fans! Now, let’s show our love for The City and rock this week!!!
Reps for MTV, as well as a publicist for doe-eyed diva Olivia Palermo, also confirm “any rumors of cancellation are entirely inaccurate,” according to the Thread.
Because it ain’t ovah until Kelly Cutrone says it is.
