In earning her highest score all season, singer-actress Brandy on Monday night finally hit the top spot on the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ leader board totals. And boy, she’s feeling goooood about that.

“I’ve been jumping up and down since I danced,” she told Fancast after the dance Monday night. “I’m excited!’

The dance that placed her and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy on top was the Quickstep, performed to the theme song from ‘Friends’ (the Rembrandts’ “I’ll Be There For You”). The couple scored triple 9s totaling a 27 out of 30. Judge Len Goodman called it her best dance yet. “I’m so impressed with that!” the hard-to-please judge exclaimed.

It wasn’t so easy in rehearsals, though. “There was a little difficulty, especially in the beginning,” Maksim tells us. “But Brandy really came out as one of my best friends, and with her help this dance came out to be what it was because I wasn’t in the right mindset. I think it represents who we are in this competition. We’re really good friends, and it’s been that way since Day 1.”

If the pair make it through the fifth elimination night – and with the top score, we’re positive they will – they have double the trouble waiting for them next week. Each couple has to dance two dances: a regular one (theirs is the Tango) and participate in the rock and roll dance-a-thon, where couples get tapped off by the judges and the last pair standing win the challenge.

“I’m actually looking forward to next week. I really am. I just want to see what it’s like,” said an optimistic Brandy. As for Maks… eh, not so much. “It’s not fun. If you stay until the end, you come out with heart attack. Have you tried that? I’d like to see you try it,” he joked to us.

Uh, no thanks, Maks. But we’re looking forward to watching you guys tough it out.

Let’s take a look at Brandy’s scores so far:
Week 1: Viennese Waltz, 23 (second place)
Week 2: Jive, 21 (fifth place)
Week 3: Samba, 24 (second place)
Week 4: Rumba, 48 (double score night; second place)
Week 5: Quickstep, 27 (first place)
