From ballroom bragging rights … to blades of glory?

ABC announced Friday that it’s bringing ‘Skating with the Stars‘ to TV screens later this fall. Seriously.

Celebrities are teaming up with world class ice skaters to compete in a “breathtaking” new reality show from the producers of ‘Dancing with the Stars.’

If this disaster in the making sounds vaguely familiar, that’s because Fox did it back in 2006 with ‘Skating with Celebrities’ — which is regularly ranked on TV editors’ lists as one of the worst reality shows of all time.

‘Skating’ hits the ice with a live two-hour premiere Monday, November 22, after the ‘DWTS’ season ends. The six-episode showdown will air weekly on Mondays, through the Tuesday, December 21st finale.

ABC plans to announce the ‘celebrities’ falling down, er, participating on the show on November 2 during the ‘DWTS’ results show.

Among the casualties of this news (besides some bruised egos and possible broken bones) is ABC’s alien drama ‘V,’ which gets bumped to winter as a result. Season 2 of ‘V’ now premieres on Tuesday, January 4th, at 9 p.m., in its new time slot, airing behind the super-powered family drama, ‘No Ordinary Family,’ starring Michael Chiklis.
