Some of the big ratings news from this Monday came from a little show called ‘Gossip Girl,’ which with an audience of 2.12 million viewers witnessed a 19 percent surge from a week ago and hit a season high (pending possible adjustments for a football preemption).

Also netting a noteworthy increase was the Season 3 launch of Fox’s ‘Lie To Me,’ which improved on the canceled ‘Lone Star’s numbers by 58 percent, drawing nearly 6 million total viewers. That tally also reps ‘Lie To Me’s best audience since June 28 – no small feat, since that season all but bled right into the new one.

Other Monday ratings notes:

* With the nonetheless dominant ‘Dancing With the Stars’ dipping 7 percent (to 21.1 million viewers), both ‘House‘ (10.5 mil) and ‘Chuck‘ (5.4 mil) enjoyed slight gains. Speaking of ‘House,’ can Amy Irving’s character please be in every episode?

* Opposite stronger Fox competition and The CW’s rising ‘Gossip Girl,’ NBC’s ‘The Event‘ – which I shall again endorse – slipped another 6 percent, to 7.46 million viewers. Y’all are a bunch of ETists.

* At 10 o’clock, CBS’ ‘Hawaii Five-O‘ this time edged out ABC’s ‘Castle’ in total viewers and led the demos, while NBC’s ‘Chase’ dropped another 9 percent, to 5.8 mil.
