Was Sarah Palin Booed At ‘DWTS’? Tom Bergeron Says No

‘Dancing With The Stars’ host Tom Bergeron went on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ Monday night and claimed that, despite appearances to the contrary, Sarah Palin was not booed by the audience right before her stage-side interview.

“It was because they felt that Jennifer [Grey] got screwed,” Bergeron countered, since the booing started while Grey and pro partner Derek Hough were commenting on the eights they received as scores. “They should have gotten nines. They had just gushed about her, and then they felt that they had underscored her.”

A skeptical Kimmel pressed the point, asking “Are you positive?” Bergeron paused and answered with an uncertain “Mostly.”

Grey, Hough and ‘DWTS’ cohost Brooke Burke were collectively puzzled by the audience noise, which they heard during their backstage interview. “There is booing in the ballroom; I don’t know why,” said Burke. “Why is there booing?” asked Grey.

You can watch the clip below and see whether or not you think Bergeron’s just giving the party line. The crowd seems to be cheering Grey and Hough’s scores, and then doesn’t start booing until halfway through Grey’s comments – that would have been when Palin began getting into place for her interview.

Earlier on the show, Kimmel mocked both of the Palins, showing a doctored clip of “Mama Grizzly” taking a sniper rifle to judges who give her daughter Bristol Palin a bad rating. He also took note of the song choices for the younger Palin’s dance numbers. “Oddly, the song Bristol danced to was ‘You Can’t Hurry Love,’ which seems odd considering the fact that she had a child out of wedlock. Last week, she danced to the song ‘Mama Told Me Not To Come.’ Next week, she’s dancing to a song called ‘Goodbye Crazy Mommy, I’m Never Coming Back to Alaska So Leave Me Alone.’”
