With few Monday shows improving upon their week-ago premiere audiences, NBC’s ‘The Event‘ suffered the biggest drop – down 20 percent, to just under 9 million total viewers.

Similarly, all eyes were on Fox’s highly acclaimed yet tragically undersampled ‘Lone Star,’ which despite much fan campaigning failed to better its profile. It dipped 7 percent, to 3.78 million viewers. Perhaps the saddest nail in the drama’s metaphorical coffin: The second half-hour of ‘Gossip Girl’ bested it in the coveted 18-to-49 demo.

Other notes from Monday, where ‘Dancing With the Stars’ (obv) dominated with 21.6 million viewers:

* In the 8 o’clock hour, ‘Chuck’ (5.32 mil) slipped 10 percent, as did ’90210′ (1.97 mil). ‘House’ (10 mil) lost just 500K viewers.

* At 9 pm, ‘Mike & Molly‘ (11.2 mil) shed 8 percent, though CBS’ new comedy seems to be doing well with the DVR crowd (its first week enjoyed a 10 percent boost).

* ‘Hawaii Five-0, last week’s 10 o’clock champ, was down 11 percent (to 12.34 million viewers). That in theory put ABC’s ‘Castle’ (up 16 percent) right on its heels, though ‘Castle’s average is A) inflated by its ‘DWTS’ lead-in, and B) come 10:59, ‘Five-0′ held onto a markedly larger audience. NBC’s ‘Chase‘ slowed down 20 percent to nab just 6.4 million viewers.
