Well, what would you expect from the nephew of bumbling idiot Michael Scott – competence?

Of course not! And the denizens of Dunder-Mifflin Paper Co.’s Scranton branch are up in arms over the hiring of an incompetent office assistant named Luke – a tousle-haired, 20-something slacker doofus who can’t even get their coffee orders right.

‘Office’ Gossip: New Hire Will Eventually Become Boss

On Thursday’s seventh-season premiere of ‘The Office’ on NBC (9/8c), Michael (played by the matchless Steve Carell) naturally defends his nephew (played by guest-star Evan Peters), but his staff is unanimous: Luke has got to go!

You be the judge: In this hilarious clip from the episode – titled “Nepotism” – Luke completely screws up the morning coffee order, and tags various ‘Office’ staffers with obnoxious, inappropriate nicknames.

That clip, and the others provided here for preview, are a great reminder of how savagely funny this show has been for six seasons. One reason: This show really does have one of the smartest, most appealing casts in all of television. Just check out this clip, in which some of the ‘Office’-ites dance and lip-synch to the classic 1968 pop hit “Nobody But Me” by the Human Beinz. You’ll probably want to get up and dance yourself.

(Just for fun: Watch The Human Beinz perform the song in 1968)

There’s more to the season premiere than the hijinks of the office’s hapless new assistant. There has to be a prank, of course – and Jim (John Krasinski) has his sights set on Dwight’s huge key ring with its hundred keys. You’ll hear a great, classic Dwight-ism in this clip (uttered by the incomparably deadpan Rainn Wilson): “The bigger the key chain, the more powerful the man.”

Come on – who doesn’t love ‘The Office’?
