There are certain pressures that build up when anchoring a live news broadcast, from teleprompters being out of sync to producers screaming directions into an ear piece, so it shouldn’t come as too much of a shock to see things get a little tense sometimes — like on CNN’s ‘American Morning‘ yesterday when John Roberts became distracted by his co-host.

Just as Roberts began conducting a live interview with presidential adviser David Axelrod, co-host Kiran Chetry started doing something off-camera that took Roberts’ attention away from his job at hand. And that’s when things got prickly between the two journalists.

“Would you mind not doing that while I’m talking?” Roberts said in a condescending tone to Chetry, much like a parent talks to their misbehaving child. “Thank you, I appreciate that,” he said after his co-host apparently complied with his request.

Chetry hasn’t referenced the awkward moment, but YouTube viewers have sure enjoyed watching the on-air tension.
