‘The Good Guys’ was the show you should’ve watched this summer but probably didn’t. Thankfully, you’ll get another chance to check it out when it is paired with ‘Human Target’ on Fox’s Friday butt-kicking line-up starting September 24, and creator Matt Nix (‘Burn Notice’) has been retooling it a bit with some new casting choices to try and get more eyeballs on this crazy buddy cop action comedy.

Mustachioed burn-out Detective Dan Stark (Bradley Whitford) has annoyed his partner, the straight-laced Detective Jack Bailey (Colin Hanks), on many occasions with tales of his glory days with his legendary former partner Frank, and now Frank’s got a face – that of the fantastic comic actor Gary Cole (Office Space). There’s also word that Danny Trejo (Machete) will show up in the new season, as will Ed Begley Jr., purportedly playing Bailey’s father – although that’s a difficult task for him, making us believe he’s Tom Hanks.

Nix is also attempting to draw in more female viewers for the macho show, which includes adding a new female character into the mix and focusing a bit more on the characters’ relationships. So far, we’ve watched Stark bed all the MILFs like Nia Vardalos while annoying his boss Lt. Ruiz (Diana-Maria Riva), while Bailey has been struggling with his lingering attraction to his ex-girlfriend, aka D.A. Liz Traynor (Jenny Wade). One would guess that means we’re going to get a long-term love interest for the love-em-and-leave-em Stark.
