For a woman who doesn’t believe in fighting, ‘Jersey Shore‘s resident “sweetheart” Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola certainly gave Jenni “J-Woww” Farley the smackdown of all smackdowns on last week’s episode.
When I caught up with her Sunday on the white carpet for the MTV Video Music Awards in downtown Los Angeles, and the girl with a killer right hook – er, make that killer right claw – made like a pretty pacifist. “I don’t believe in fighting and violence,” she told me. “I had to stick up for myself and things happened, but I don’t think fighting solves anything.”
The brawl, for those of you not down with the GTL crew (that’s Gym-Tan-Laundry, the three most important things in a ‘Jersey Shore’ crew member’s life), was over Sammi’s boyfriend Ronnie Ortiz-Magro’s extra-curricular affairs, which cast mates and friends Nicole “Snookie” Polizzi and J-Wow brought to Sammi’s attention two episodes back.

Though the episode was taped a while ago – and Sammi and Ronnie are still together – Sammi had a tough time re-watching the episode. “It was very difficult to relive it again and watch it,” she said. “But I think that some time has passed and I’m in a better place now than I was then.”
When asked how she and Ronnie are doing, she smiled and said, “You’re going to have to wait and see.” But I witnessed the two acting very much the couple later on the white carpet when he was holding her phone for her and they were standing close, smiling, and looking very much together.
Meanwhile, Sammi didn’t exactly give her MTV cast mate Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino the nod of approval for his upcoming ‘Dancing With the Stars‘ gig. “I wish Mike the best of luck,” she said, stoically. But can he dance?! “He is from Jersey so he can definitely fist-pump.”
Ah, fist-pumping on ‘Dancing With the Stars.’ Bruno, Len and Carrie Ann are going to have a field day with that!
What do you think of Sammi’s change of tune? Admit: You. Love. Jersey. Shore!
