ABC’s ‘The View‘ hopes to get people talking by kicking off its 14th season with a first-time visit from late-night vet David Letterman.

The host of CBS’ ‘Late Show‘ will be a guest on September 7, when the daytime talker returns from its end-of-summer hiatus.

“This is shaping up to be another exciting year for ‘The View,’” exec producer Bill Geddie said in announcing Letterman’s booking. “Right out of the gate we’ve planned a spectacular homecoming of sorts for Barbara’s much-anticipated return [from heart surgery], followed by our 3,000th show [airing Sept. 23].”
