Good news, Chord Overstreet! You’ve joined Fox’s red-hot ‘Glee‘ in the recurring role of Sam, a new student at McKinley High.

The bad news? There’s no tune for you in the much-ballyhooed Spears-centric “Britney/Brittany” episode airing September 28.

“I’m not singing in it, unfortunately,” the actor laments to Fancast in the red-carpet video below. “I wanted to sing ‘Slave 4 U.’”

Regardless, Overstreet avows the Britney tribute will be “pretty intense.”

‘Glee’ being ‘Glee,’ we asked if Sam is destined to make beautiful music with any of the New Directions members. (One strong rumor says that the mop-topped jock is in fact Kurt’s new beau.) Overstreet claimed her had only read the season premiere script, but he is bullish on an eventual hook-up with someone. “They kind of keep us on our toes, so hopefully!” he shared.
