CBS’ ‘The Good Wife‘ continues to arm for bear in its second season, adding a Tony Award winner – Anika Noni Rose – to its already impressive roster of guest stars.

Rose, whose TV credits include HBO’s ‘The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency‘ (which may be back as a series of TV-movies) and USA’s ‘The Starter Wife,’ will guest-star on at least one episode of the hit drama’s sophomore season, though not in the September 28 opener, I am told.

‘Good Wife’ Badass Talks Of Emmy Nom… And That ‘Kiss’

A CBS rep divulged no details about Rose’s role, intimating that its nature was perhaps a bit too spoilery in and of itself.

Interestingly-slash-coincidentally, also appearing in Rose’s episode is another Broadway baby, Bobby Steggert. His credits include the musical ’110 in the Shade,’ for which he netted an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination.

But despite my earlier speculation that Alicia and Will might be heading to the theatre for a date, Steggert is simply playing a once-carefree college guy whose world is rocked by the death of his father, who was a suspect in a series sniper attacks. The lad contends that harassment by the DA’s office led pop to suffer a fatal heart attack.

CBS Reacts To Bad GLAAD Grade By Adding Gay Characters To ‘Good Wife,’ Other Shows

Rose won her Tony in 2004, for the musical ‘Caroline, Or Change.’ She also was one of the big screen’s ‘Dreamgirls,’ playing Lorrell Robinson in the 2006 film.

Other new faces on tap for ‘Good Wife’s second cycle include ‘Friday Night Lights’ Scott Porter (as a foil/potential romantic interest for Kalinda), ‘Sleeper Cell’s Michael Ealy (as a new partner at Lockhart & Gardner), Emmy winner Tammy Blanchard (as an underling of Glen Childs’), and ‘The L Word’s Dallas Roberts (playing Alicia’s gay brother).
