Jason Bateman Wants You To Stop Asking About ‘Arrested Development’ Movie

Jason Bateman would like everyone to stop asking him about the ‘Arrested Development’ movie.

Over the weekend, he was promoting his new film The Switch, wherein he’s co-starring with Jennifer Aniston, and any time anyone from the ‘AD’ cast is doing a press event, someone has to ask them about it, and this was no exception. This time, it got Bateman in some hot water.

“There’s no new news,” he stressed. “Yesterday, somebody asked me ‘you and Jen have done a couple movies together. Are you guys going to keep working together? What about the ‘Arrested Development’ movie?’ I said ‘Actually, there’s a great part for her in the movie, I’m going to pitch her!’ Just having fun, you know? And there’s about 25 headlines this morning on crappy blogs saying ‘Jennifer Aniston To Do The New ‘Arrested Development’ Movie!’ I hate talking about it because there’s never anything significant to report. I simply politely answer the questions when they’re asked, and inevitably someone will take a line out of a perfunctory answer and try to build a headline around it. Then the readers become exhausted and I get blamed for trying to perpetuate a non-update.”

Lest you think this is one of those crappy blogs, here’s the simple, polite answer from Bateman’s lips, not out of context. “There’s nothing new to report, but it’s something that we’d all love to do. Hopefully, soon.”

If you need a second opinion, Michael Cera said the same thing recently when promoting Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. “No update. Hopefully it will happen soon.”

To which Cera’s co-star Jason Schwartzman joked “It’s in the exact stage of its title.”
