Gordon Ramsay Acts A Fool to Sofia Vergara on Leno

Gordon Ramsay has a reputation for being off-putting and obnoxious, and that held true last night on The Tonight Show while Jay Leno was trying to interview Emmy nominee Sofia Vergara of Modern Family. He constantly interrupted their conversation, insulted the little Colombian treat she brought for them to sample by saying “you can take it back to f**king Colombia” and even swatted her very near the posterior.

Ramsay seemed to be trying to awkwardly flirt with her right off the bat by asking about her bedroom habits, and she wasn’t having it. Later, when she was showing vacation photos, he marveled that she wasn’t eating pizza with silverware, saying “You just pick it up and stick it in?” She wasn’t thrilled with that double entendre either, but she played it off well.

She might have expected a bad reaction when she ventured into his food territory, but after offering him a taste of a beloved caramel dessert from Colombia, he said “It tastes like s**ty fudge.” He even spit it out behind the couch, which most dinner hosts would agree is pretty darn rude. When she bandied back, saying the English only eat fish and chips, he gave her a quick little slap to her upper thigh, which prompted her to scold him by saying “No touching!”

When he insulted her son’s name, saying Manolo “sounds like a paint,” she finally said “Okay, this is my interview.”

Leno was a little obnoxious himself, pressing Vergara to reveal how much weight she gained on vacation, which is just not something you ask in polite conversation. He also mocked her accent, as he did with Ramsay earlier in the show as well. They also discussed the Variety ad that jokingly promised that Vergara would run naked down Sunset Boulevard if Modern Family wins the Emmy. She claims she has bad knees, but she could speedwalk instead – although she also quipped that her co-star Ed O’Neill is ready to take her place in the naked run.
