Comcast On Demand today premieres a pair of films which couldn’t be more different in tone and content. The underseen indie superhero flick Kick-Ass will likely start earning its cult following who will appreciate its edginess now. The Ghost Writer, however, is a well-regarded film by a not-so-well-regarded filmmaker – namely, Roman Polanski. Take a closer look at the films below.

Kick-Ass
Why hasn’t anybody ever actually tried to put on a superhero costume and fight crime? That’s the question Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson) poses before his obsession with the idea drives him to do just that. When he becomes an internet phenomenon as the masked hero Kick-Ass, he inspires a crusading father-daughter team of highly competent badasses (Nicolas Cage, Chloe Grace Moretz) to follow his example as Big Daddy and Hit Girl, and soon their vendetta against a crime boss (Marc Strong) involves his spoiled son dressing up as the Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) and an incredible amount of brutally fun fight scenes.

The Ghost Writer
This is the film Roman Polanski had to finish from prison. Ewan McGregor stars as a successful ghost writer who is charged with handling the memoirs of a former British Prime Minister (Pierce Brosnan) who may or may not have committed war crimes (and who bears not a passing resemblance to Tony Blair). The resulting scandal leads him to search for the dark truth about the connection to the CIA.
