DETROIT – (AP) Producers of a crime show set and shot in Detroit have missed a meeting with the City Council on concerns about the drama’s content.
City film, culture and special events liaison Summer Woods told the council ysterday that producers of ‘Detroit 1-8-7′ are in production during the day and couldn’t make the meeting.
Some council members have said they worry the ABC show will play on negative stereotypes.
The title uses a former California police code for homicide and is set to air in September. The show is shot from the perspective of a documentary film crew tasked with shadowing Detroit homicide detectives.
Detroit has been unable to shake its reputation of being a violent city, despite reductions in violent crime.
