Speculation that Olsen (‘Brothers & Sisters‘) might have a future with the CBS procedural started almost immediately after he guested in the April episode “Hand to Hand,” where he played an LAPD undercover officer posing – and sparring with LL Cool J‘s Sam Hannah – as a mixed martial artist.

Olsen’s character, special agent Marty Deeks, made an encore appearance weeks later in the episode “Fame” (watch it here).

Olsen’s path with ‘NCIS: LA’ apes the one followed by Cote de Pablo‘s character on the original ‘NCIS‘: Ziva was brought on as a liaison before ultimately joining Gibbs’ team.

‘NCIS: LA’ kicks off its second season with a two-hour premiere airing Tuesday, September 21.
