Larry King might be giving up his digs at the top of the CNN food chain, but he isn’t ready to pass the baton on to just anybody, especially to a person that King himself admits he wouldn’t recognize on the street.

Despite reports that Piers Morgan, a judge on ‘America’s Got Talent‘ and popular British figure, is in serious talks to take over King’s CNN program when the long-time host retires later this year, King told Forbes.com that Morgan isn’t very well known, according to the Huffington Post.

“You don’t know him as a host… other than being a guest on my show, I’ve never watched ‘America’s Got Talent’ and I don’t know if I’d recognize him if he was walking down the street,” King told Forbes.com.

Unfamiliarity aside, King did say that he would help promote Morgan should he get the job, saying, “I’m still with CNN. I don’t want him to do badly. There are some people who would… but I want him to do well.”

If King had his way, however, it wouldn’t be Morgan but Ryan Seacrest that got his job. It appears the ‘American Idol‘ host is King’s “favorite.”
