The pilot episode for what some are calling “the Asian ‘Jersey Shore’” was shot last weekend in Los Angeles’ Koreatown, and among the cast members is a bisexual male erotica star.
All told, the series – produced by singer/actor/model Tyrese Gibson – boasts a ‘Jersey’-style cast featuring “guys with tight black shirts, dude with fauxhawk, girl with hella blonde hair that makes it look like she has a spray tan… a Korean Snooki, cuz she’s shorter than everyone else [and] a former meth addict, who’s a girl?” reports the website 8Asians.com.
Tyrese first announced the yet-to-be-titled series in April, and the casting call sought “interesting, attractive, colorful Asian-Americans… with lively, strong, and unique personalities between the ages of 18 to 30.”
No network or premiere date has been booked for the series. Tyrese in the meantime is filming roles in ‘Transformers 3′ and the next ‘Fast & Furious’ sequel.
Cast member Peter Le – the aforementioned “erotica model” – indeed brings the colorful, as any Google search will reveal. Frankly, he makes “The Situation” looks like a choir boy.
Already the show has Asian-Americans on edge, fretting that their first reality-TV showcase could be a mortifying one. 8Asians.com, though, posits that the show – if it ever makes it to air – will be “be an embarrassment, sure, but not to us. This will be an embarrassment to cast members of a reality show who auditioned for a K-Town reality series.”
