Reality TV star and new mom Bethenny Frankel talks about her difficult childhood in the cover story of this week’s People magazine.

Frankel’s own daughter Bryn is 8 weeks old; Bethenny’s pregnancy and fast romance with businessman Jason Hoppy are chronicled in the Bravo show ‘Bethenny Getting Married?

“I never had a true childhood,” Frankel, 39, tells the magazine. The only child of famed horse trainer Bobby Frankel and his first wife Bernadette says her mother was “extremely volatile. She was never a mother to me.”

“There was a lot of destruction: alcohol abuse, eating disorders and violent fights,” she adds.

Frankel also starred on Bravo’s ‘Real Housewives of New York City,’ but says her life is all about motherhood now. “I live for this baby,” she says.

‘Bethenny Getting Married?’ airs at 10 p.m. Thursdays on Bravo.
