Daytime stars say the darndest things!  With an Emmy weekend that featured a red carpet in the midst of a casino, a telecast that seemed to be about something completely different than the awards that were being presented, and some incredibly heartfelt acceptance speeches from the cast of ‘As The World Turns,’ everyone had a lot to say.  Here are my favorite quotes from the red carpet, gifting suite and press room.

On The Show’s Location: Las Vegas
“Vegas is like Disneyland for adults and we’re the kids.” — Dylan Patton, ex-Will ‘Days of Our Lives‘ on being a minor on Emmy weekend in Las Vegas.

“Vegas has enjoyed us.” — Christian LeBlanc (Michael, ‘The Young & The Restless‘) on having a good time with his co-stars in Vegas.

“I had kind of a rough night, to be honest.  I had to do a little bit of recovering. [Tonight] hopefully I’ll remember everything.”  — Chrishelle Strauss (Amanda, ‘All My Children‘) on partying in Vegas.

On Emmy Night Fashion
“I am wearing [co-star] Christian LeBlanc.” — Michelle Stafford (Phyllis, ‘The Young & The Restless’) on her sexy Emmy dress.

“J. Crew.  I never wear anything I can’t afford.” — Maura West (Carly, ‘As The World Turns’) on her Emmy dress.

“I did rent this dress.  I can’t wear it again.  So I figured, you know what, rent it.” -– Chrishelle Strauss (Amanda ‘All My Children’) on her gold sequined dress.

On The Craft of Daytime
Paul Rauch has brought an older man flavor because he shouts at me all the time to get off the stage and I have to because it’s just that voice. But he’s amazing.”  — Christian LeBlanc (Michael, ‘The Young & The Restless’) on Paul Rauch.

“For seven years I’ve gotten paid to act 50 weeks a year. I don’t know anyone else outside of daytime who gets to do that.” – Greg Rikaart (Kevin ‘The Young & The Restless’) on why daytime is a great opportunity for actors.

“[My Mom] said, ‘Oh my God! You’re going to be the new Drucilla!’  I wish I could be the new Drucilla.  I represent full-figured women and African-American women.” — Julia Pace Mitchell (Kia ‘The Young & The Restless’) on recently being cast on the show.  She debuts July 20th.

“I’m not a method actor.  I’m old school acting.  You are taught to act. I didn’t draw on my own life at all.” — Maura West (Carly ‘As The World Turns’) on her Emmy winning intervention scenes.

“I think that if I’ve been successful it’s been because stories came out of character.  I think character driven plot is so much more interesting because people can relate to it, than events.”  -– Agnes Nixon, Lifetime Achievement Winner, creator of ‘All My Children’ and ‘One Life To Live.’

“We try to do a mixture.  We do some stories that are jawdroppers that are far out and then some real grounded family stories and then some downright smutty stories.  You’ve got to have your smut.” -– Brad Bell (Executive Producer & Head Writer ‘The Bold & The Beautiful).

On The Business of Daytime
“I’ve been back and forth with my contract more times than Wimbledon. I won an Emmy for material when I wasn’t on contract.” — Drew Tyler Bell (Thomas, ‘The Bold & The Beautiful).

“Daytime has supported families who labor in art and entertainment for decades. Nobody works harder.” -– Billy Miller (Billy, ‘The Young & The Restless’).
