Cameron Mathison, who plays Ryan on ‘All My Children,’ makes the show, and is ABC daytime’s most active cheerleader. The frequent ‘Good Morning America’ contributor and former ‘Dancing With The Stars‘ contestant still seems grateful to have a job even though he is one of daytime’s most popular stars. You have to respect that. So it comes as no surprise that he is thrilled about this year’s Daytime Emmys move to Las Vegas. He revealed which award he will be presenting, details about the Lifetime Achievement Award that AMC’s creator Agnes Nixon will receive and why, after what can charitably be described as a tumultuous year for AMC, he is confident the show will go home with the big prize.
The Emmys are going to Vegas this year. What do you think about that?
I think it’s exciting. Obviously, the Emmys have been around for quite a while. You need to change stuff up. Vegas is a place where everybody has a good time so I think it’s going to be a big party.
Where are you planning to party?
I usually go to bed by 9:30 at night so after ‘All My Children’ wins the Daytime Emmy for best drama, I will be partying with the cast of ‘All My Children.’

‘All My Children’ had the most Emmy nominations of any series this year. Are you confident? How many do you think you are going to win?
We are confident. We had a really great year. The stuff we submitted is great stuff. I don’t really watch the other shows. I watch this show and we’ve had such a strong, strong year. I’m not just saying that because I’m in an interview.
Which category are you going to present?
I think I’m presenting Younger Actor with Rebecca Budig, who plays Greenlee Smythe DuPres Lavery Devane Hayward.
Are you going to be sharing the stage with the Blue Man Group or Celine Dion since Vegas performers are going to be part of the show?
We’ve got the script. I think it’s a little bit of an Elvis theme. I’m not sure how far they’re going to go with that so who knows?
Are you going to be a part of the tribute to ‘All My Children’ creator Agnes Nixon?
Only in the pre-taping of it. I was interviewed for it. A lot of the cast was interviewed. I really think that Susan [Lucci] is going to be the one driving that Lifetime Achievement Award for Agnes. We’re all going to be cheering like crazy people in the audience.
Do you have any idea how long the tribute segment is going to be?
I don’t. I hope it does justice to Agnes. She’s an absolutely remarkable woman who has done some pretty incredible things in her life. I can’t think of a better recipient of this award. She really deserves the lifetime achievement award. Her shows have been around for a good number of years. Given what she’s done and how she’s changed daytime and continues to keep daytime current with current issues and going in directions that nobody would go before. She’s really I believe responsible for the longevity that we see in daytime.
