Cody Gifford sure must be thankful his mom is in the show biz.
Kathie Lee Gifford helped her son land a summer internship reviewing movies for the ‘Today‘ show, where she co-hosts the fourth hour with Hoda Kotb.
“I love nepotism!” Kathie Lee joked as she introduced son Cody, now 20 and a film studies major at the University of Southern California.
Gifford’s son should be somewhat familiar to longtime viewers of ‘Live with Regis and Kathie Lee,’ where Kathie Lee subjected viewers and Reege with endless stories about her children for 15 years while she co-hosted the morning show.
Cody has already reviewed a couple releases this year, from the highly anticipated ‘Sex and the City 2′ (“I thought it was excessive … from the shoes to the place where they’re staying”) to the not-so-much ‘Jonah Hex’ (“the motivation’s not really there for some of the characters”).
Here are some more snippets of Cody’s reviews:
‘Toy Story 3:’ “Definitely a winner. I don’t think Pixar can do wrong.”
Prince of Persia: “The best way to describe it would be a hybrid of ‘Aladdin’ on one end of the spectrum and ’300.’”
Meet the ‘Today’ Show’s New Movie Critic, Cody Gifford:
While Cody is an aspiring director, he definitely knows how good he’s got it: “It’s a great summer internship and I don’t think, given my desires and what I like, I could have asked for a better one,” he said in an interview posted on nbc.com.
Don’t think it’ll be all about the movies though; there’s also humorous moments, with Kathie Lee teasing (or embarrassing?) her son: “I want to hear about my kid’s fantasy!”
