Fans of CBS’ ‘NCIS‘ can find some solace in the fact that one less cast member is in limbo for Season 8, premiering this fall.
As recently as a month ago, four series regulars – Michael Weatherly (who plays Tony), Pauley Perrette (Abby), Sean Murray (McGee) and David McCallum (Ducky) – had not been signed beyond the just-wrapped Season 7. Mark Harmon (Gibbs), Cote de Pablo (Ziva) and Rocky Carroll (Vance) already had deals in place for Season 8.
McCallum was the first to ink a new deal, and now EW.com is reporting that Perrette is sticking around via a new, multi-year contract with TV’s most-watched scripted series.
That leaves Weatherly and Murray as the remaining “question marks.” The former told Fancast in early May that he was “very optimistic” about reaching a new deal.
CBS entertainment chief Nina Tassler told us May 19 that talks with the ‘NCIS’ holdouts were “moving in a very good direction,” and that protracted negotiations with stars of a hit show were “par for the course.”
