The Television Critics Association has announced the nominees for their annual awards, recognizing the critics’ picks for the best in television.
The reinvigorated sitcom genre lead the way, as TV critics showered ‘Modern Family’ and ‘Glee’ with nominations. The freshman comedies are both critical darlings and mainstream hits — how refreshing for once.
ABC’s ‘Modern Family‘ lead the pack with five nominations, including best comedy series and program of the year, while Fox’s musical masterpiece ‘Glee‘ and AMC’s oh-so-good ‘Breaking Bad‘ landed four noms each.
‘Lost,’ ‘Law & Order,’ and ‘24‘ — three show that recently ended their runs — are all up for the Heritage Award, while perpetual underdogs and critical darlings ‘Friday Night Lights‘ scored a best program nod.
The TCA Awards will be handed out July 31 in Los Angeles.
