Details about ‘Lost‘s Season 6 and complete series DVD sets (hitting stores August 24) are starting to trickle out, and thus far it seems that both will be as engaging as the show itself.

“We’re really excited about the packaging [of the complete series],” executive producer Damon Lindelof tells Fancast. “We put it to the DVD team, ‘Make it look cool. We want to play with stuff.’ And they knocked our socks off. ”

Indeed, ‘Lost’: The Complete Collection comes “entombed” inside a hieroglyphics-embellished stone “slab.” Inside, fans will find every episode from Seasons 1 through 6, more than 30 hours’ worth of bonus features, a collectible Senet game (as seen in Season 6′s “Across the Sea”), a map of the island, an episode guide and an Ankh (as seen in Charlie’s guitar case, albeit smaller).

I’d buy it!” says Lindelof.

Likewise, ‘Lost’: The Complete Sixth and Final Season boasts “some really incredible DVD extras,” says exec producer Carlton Cuse. Among them: a featurette touted in the press release as a “much-anticipated new chapter of the island’s story.”

Michael Emerson (Ben) described that extra to G4 as a 12-to-14-minute epilogue that “opens a window onto that gap of unknown time between Hurley (played by Jorge Garcia) becoming Number One and the end of the series…. It’s a rich period in the show’s mythology that ‘s never been explored.”

The Season 6 set ($59.99/$79.99 Blu-ray) also includes “a real analysis of what making a final season of a show was like,” says Cuse. Among the fellow show runners chiming in on how to wrap up an acclaimed series is ‘The Shield’s Shawn Ryan.

“No show has ever announced its ending three years out,” Cuse notes, “and that allowed us to fashion a whole set of extras about how a show ends.”
