NCIS‘ fans should remain hopeful that the hit procedural’s cast will remain intact next season – even though some John Hancocks still are pending.

“I’m not saying that everyone is signed,” CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler tells Fancast, referring to cast members Michael Weatherly (who plays Tony), Pauley Perrette (Abby) and Sean Murray (McGee), “but everything is moving in a very good direction.”

Weatherly, Perrette and Murray, along with David McCallum (Ducky), all saw their contracts with the shows expire at the end of the current season, which airs its finale on May 25. Thus far, only McCallum has announced a new deal.

Series lead Mark Harmon, as well as Cote de Pablo and Rocky Carroll, already had been signed through next season.

That TV’s most watched scripted series is even dealing this off-screen cliffhanger “is all par for the course,” Tassler explains. “It’s what has happened with successful shows on every network since the beginning of time.”
