Yes, ‘Heroeshas been canceled, failing to earn even a shortened 13-episode Season 4 pick-up when NBC unveiled its plan for the 2010-11 TV season on Sunday.

But there is hope, a small ray of hope, that some semblance of closure is heading fans’ way.

Updated: ‘Heroes’ Is Canceled

Discussing ‘Heroes’ cancellation in a conference call about NBC’s fall plan, primetime entertainment president Angela Bromstad said that NBC and series creator Tim Kring “felt that we had satisfied the viewers’ desire with the show, in terms of the length of the series.”

That said, Bromstad added, “We are having a conversation about a two-hour event movie… to air at some point next year.”

Until that possible event arrived, Bromstad believes that two of the Peacock’s new offerings could strike the fancy of the same fan base.

“We think both The Cape’ and ‘The Event’ will appeal to the ‘Heroes’ audience,” she said. The former is a caped crusader series costarring Summer Glau and premiering midseason, while the latter will actually occupy ‘Heroes’ Mondays-at-9 time slot starting this fall.
