The son of the late Dana Plato, star of ‘Diff’rent Strokes,’ has committed suicide.

Tyler Lambert, 25, died of a self-inflicted gunshot last Thursday in Tulsa, Okla., nearly 11 years to the day his mother took her own life. He had been working as a cameraman and amateur songwriter.

“It’s a shame that such a talented human being would do this with his life,” his grandmother Joni Richardson tells People. “He had all the opportunities in the world and we just can’t understand it.”

Troubled child star Dana Plato died from a drug overdose in 1999 at the age of 34.
