Oscar and Grammy winner Jamie Foxx got an early jump on his gig this week guest-mentoring on ‘American Idol.’

“We met [Jamie] in the parking lot where we record at a couple weeks ago,” Michael “Big Mike” Lynche said in Hollywood at a press event for this season’s ‘Idol’ finalists. “He started mentoring us right there on the spot. That was just amazing that he would even take that time with us. I think he’s going to chill with us and really give it to us good.”

Foxx joins Miley Cyrus, Alicia Keys and Usher on this season’s list of ‘Idol’ celebrity mentors.

“He’s got that real humble cool vibe,” Crystal Bowersox said. “You can talk to him on a real personal level. I think he is going to do a great job.”

Foxx’s fourth CD, ‘Body,’ comes out in June.

Added Lee DeWyze, “I think it’s cool because he’s done movies, [TV] shows, and music. He’s multi-talented. He has done a lot of different things. I look at it from a musical aspect, as well as the performance side of it. He’s done everything. It will be different mentor sessions than all the others because of that.”

Bowersox, Lynche and DeWyze are joined in the ‘Idol’ top four by Casey James.
