All are bowing to Alec Baldwin. In ‘It’s Complicated,’ he gives one of the best, most consistent and controlled comedic performances in any recent film, and not surprisingly the movie starring Meryl Streep was the most watched On Demand its first week of availability. Baldwin’s hilarious turn alone would be enough to recommend this movie as a must-see this weekend, and his back and forth with Streep is delicious.
Jake: I’m sorry.
Jane: How far back does that ‘sorry’ go?
Jake: How far back do you need it to go?
Jane: Wa-ay back.
The critics agreed. “The romantic comedy about a divorced couple having an affair manages to be both light on its feet and heavy enough to deliver something of a message,” said the Washington Post. “It’s pretty simple. It’s simply a good time,” stated the Chicago Tribune. “Streep is in movie star mode, and she’s irresistible. But Baldwin achieves something not many men have been able to with Streep: You notice him,” added the Boston Globe. Here’s the rest of the week’s top 10:
