The much talked-about, long-awaited relaunch of the Freddy Krueger franchise comes to fruition with the new A Nightmare on Elm Street, and the little talked-about, unawaited movie that sounds like an unpleasant and scary uprising in the darkest corners of the internet arrives with Furry Vengeance. Academy Award nominee Jackie Earle Haley has donned the stripey sweater, the hat and the clawed glove to take on the mantle of Freddy Krueger, bequeathed to him by the great Robert Englund, who originated the character in the hugely popular 80s horror franchise. This new take on the story of an insidious child-killing maniac who takes revenge on the children of the people who killed him by striking at them in their dreams has a harder edge to it, but can it live up to the high standards of horror fanatics?

Brendan Fraser stars as a land developer who is set to bulldoze the natural habitat of lots and lots of animals, and said furry critters take it upon themselves to put a stop to the unnatural madness. You may also want to rent Gods and Monsters to remind yourself how good Fraser can be.
