Paula Abdul, a diva? I know, that isn’t news.

But what is behind Paula Abdul’s phantom job offers every other week that never materialize into an actual job? (Besides a good PR machine.)

It’s her outrageous demands, claims a new report in the Chicago Sun-Times, echoing several previous allegations of its kind.

This time Paula’s “needs” are a major ‘Factor’ in holding up contract negotiations that would re-team the ‘American Idol‘ power pair of Simon and Paula.

Cowell ends his reign as Judge Dread on ‘Idol after this season, and Abdul is expected to join her former sparring partner on his new Fox talent search series, ‘The X Factor,’ set for fall 2011.

Abdul’s expensive demands include “office and dressing-room decoration and an insistence on a large entourage of publicists, hair stylists and makeup artists (available 24/7, even when not taping), plus a slew of other assistants,” the Sun-Times writes.

”The added costs are scaring producers,” says an inside source working on ‘The X Factor.’

Their source adds that Abdul’s desired wardrobe allowance ”would cost more than what most shows provide an entire cast, like on ‘Desperate Housewives.’”

Somebody is ‘Desperate,’ that’s for sure.

Do you think Paula Abdul is worth the trouble? Do you want to see Paula and Simon together again? Are you interested in ‘The X Factor’?
