Several-months-pregnant Amy Poehler, who announced last month that she is expecting, is wrapping the rest of her TV shooting before she takes time off work to have her second baby.
“We are shooting six [more episodes],” Poehler, 38, told reporters Monday in Pasadena of her pregnancy work schedule on NBC’s ‘Parks & Recreation.’ “We will be premiering in the fall and then sliding the schedule a little bit for a hiatus. You won’t even notice.”
Asked how she has been hiding her baby bump, which is quite visible in real life, on the show, Poehler said, “Well, we have just been kind of lucky in the past couple of episodes. Frankly, it’s a combination of good camera work and a good wardrobe department.”
“As we get closer [to her due date], Aziz [Ansari] will be constantly standing in front of her,” executive producer Greg Daniels confessed. “Or I will have a pillow under my shirt and also have a baby bump,” Poehler’s co-star Ansari joked.
Staying busy, Poehler wrote an upcoming episode of ‘Parks & Recreation’ guest starring former Indiana Pacers basketball player Detlef Schrempf. Poehler’s character Leslie plans part of a diabetes TV telethon on the episode, which has been shot. Schrempf, who has appeared on ‘Married with Children,’ is her “big star,” Poehler says.
She has not announced a due date for the baby. Married to Will Arnett, Poehler also has a 17 month-old son, Archie.
