Former Poison frontman and reality show star Bret Michaels has been rushed to the ICU to treat a brain hemorrhage, People.com reports.

The singer was recently hospitalized to treat acute appendicitis. According to People, Michaels complained about a painful headache late Thursday night and was rushed to the hospital. Doctors examined him and found he suffered a massive subarachnoid hemorrhage (bleeding at the base of his brain stem), according to their source.

The ‘Celebrity Apprentice‘ star remains in critical condition. He will likely remain in intensive care for several days while doctors try to ascertain the cause of the hemorrhage. It is unclear whether or not it’s related to his appendectomy or his diabetes.

The rock star’s reps confirm People’s report to Fancast, saying they will have no additional information on his health until “further testing is done.”

Michaels, who has been blogging for Fancast on this season’s ‘Apprentice,’ said that his recent illness was a “wake-up call,” and that he was trying to be “more diligent on keeping control of my health.”
