Emmy Winner Hal Holbrook Joins ‘Sons Of Anarchy’

Five-time Emmy winner Hal Holbrook will guest-star on ‘Sons of Anarchy‘ when the gritty FX series returns for a third season in September.

In a four-episode arc starting with the season opener, Holbrook will play Nate Madock, the father of Katey Sagal‘s Gemma. The pair reconnect through coincidental circumstances while Gemma is on the run after being framed for murder in the Season 2 finale.

Holbrook’s five-decade acting career includes Emmy-winning performances in the drama series ‘The Bold Ones: The Senator’ and ‘Pueblo,’ and the miniseries ‘Lincoln.’ On the big screen, he earned an Oscar nomination in the Supporting Actor category for his role in 2007′s ‘Into the Wild.’

Holbrook collected a Tony Award back in 1966, for his starring role in Broadway’s ‘Mark Twain Tonight.’

Holbrook’s wife, Dixie Carter (‘Designing Women’), passed away on April 10.
