When it comes to the future of reality TV, it would seem that singing and dancing are on the way out, while derring-do is on the way in.

Just days after movie-maker Michael Bay (‘Transformers’) announced that he was shopping around an action-adventure reality project titled ‘One Way Out,’ TNT has reportedly wrapped production on the pilot for a similarly flavored series.

Produced by Imagine TV and Fox TV Studios. ‘The Great Escape’ situates ordinary folks in movie-like dilemmas, challenging them to escape,’ says Deadline.com.

To that end, the players need to make like MacGyver and use only their skills and what they find around them to solve each problem.

Imagine’s Ron Howard and Brian Grazer (‘The DaVinci Code’) are among ‘The Great Escape’s executive producers. TNT will announce its plans for the 2010-11 TV season on May 19, at its upfront presentation.
