In addition to live, pretaped and really obviously pretaped musical performances, ‘Idol Gives Back’ traditionally uncorks a flurry of surprise guests. In past years, the likes of President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Brad Pitt, Robin Williams and Ben Stiller have stopped by the charity event.

Originally conceived as an annual endeavor, ‘Idol Gives Back’ now is held in alternating years.
