When Fox’s ‘Bones‘ returns with fresh episodes this Thursday at 8/7c, a storyline in which a journalist tails Temp (Emily Deschanel) upon the release of her new novel reveals the fact that Brennan’s books are such hot properties because of the hot sex scenes and not so much the savvy science.

That plot point is perhaps a nod to the ‘Bones’ fan base, which more often than not is hot to find out if and when (ideally when) the genius anthropologist will hook up with her FBI agent partner in crime solving.

And while the TV series’ 100th episode (airing April 8th) will take a major step toward or away from such a relationship, David Boreanaz certainly has his opinions on the matter.

“It’s great to see them get into their personal lives,” says the actor, who happened to direct the aforementioned Episode 100, “but for right now, I think I still maintain that they should be partners and let’s see what happens and where they go after this season, because it’s a pretty good season ender.”

With ‘Bones’ nearing its milestone outing, Boreanaz reflects on whether there might be another 100 hours of bone analysis and banter to come. “The future’s very bright for the show,” he says. “[But] I take it episode-to-episode, show-to-show, and don’t set myself up too much for discouragement if it were to end tomorrow.”

The beloved alumnus of such cult hits as ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ and the spin-off ‘Angel’ adds, “I’ve got a lot more up my sleeve, so I look forward to giving [fans] possibly another show down the line, and more characters for them to love.”

Scoop: Is Another ‘Bones’- Booth Kiss Coming?

But first, there’s more ‘Bones,’ though the season finale alluded to above is poised to shake things up in a significant way.

“There’ll be a big shift, not only for [Booth and Bones] but with everybody,” Boreanaz teases. “We shot the last scene last week, and it was very moving. It was hard to get through, but I think that it’s going to elevate these characters even more so for the next seasons to come.”
