The movie reboot train is still going strong, and this time it’s gooing to reboot camp. A strained pun, sure, but still a pun!

Some of you may recall Private Benjamin, the 1980 hit starring Goldie Hawn as a flightly, pampered woman who joins the army on a lark and winds up learning more about herself than she ever expected. It was one of the biggest hits of that year, and it spawned a spinoff TV series starring Lorna Patterson of Airplane! to boot. Now it’s booting up for a modern-day take, and Anna Faris is going to be stepping into Judy Benjamin’s combat boots.

If you remember Faris in The House Bunny, you know she can certainly play a pampered woman who becomes a fish out of water, which is what they’ll be focusing on so as not to risk insulting the real-life troops. She won’t have to play quite so stupid for this new role, but we all know Hawn initially made her mark by playing an airhead as well, so the parallels make sense. She can also go deeper as she did in Lost in Translation, so she might work very well in this role.
