Michael Bay, revered and reviled director of the Transformers franchise, has just made a surprising new announcement about the cast of Transformers 3, currently in pre-production. He’s managed to land top-notch actors John Malkovich and Frances McDormand to join the cast of the giant robot extravaganza, as well as the red-hot Ken Jeong of Community, which is a really funny show that everyone should be watching [watch full episodes right here]. He says they’ll begin pre-shoots in about a month, and for you automotive nerds, he’s also said he’ll be bringing in a new Autobot that transforms into a Ferrari 458 Italia. That’s right, he’s announcing the cars they turn into instead of the actual character he’s adding, which is about par for the course. Just so you know, there were actually characters in the original Transformers series, as surprising as that may be to hear.

Watch some fun Ken Jeong action in Community, where he stars as the insane Spanish teacher SeƱor Chang, aka El Tigre. Seriously, you should all watch this show.
