The third time will hopefully be the charm for Christian Slater, who has landed a role on his third pilot in as many years.

Having first tackled TV with ‘My Own Worst Enemy‘ and then ABC’s likely-to-be-canceled ‘The Forgotten,’ Slater now has joined the cast of an untitled Fox comedy about a team of security system hackers. Slater would play the group’s gruff, ex-military boss, says the Hollywood Reporter.

In a similar story, Skeet Ulrich is attached to his third consecutive CBS series. The former ‘Jericho‘ star last spring fronted a drama pilot titled ‘Back,’ though that was never picked up. Now, Ulrich is playing a Harvard-educated cardiologist in a John Wells-produced drama about a mobile medical team.

Other recent pilot casting highlights, courtesy of the Hollywood Reporter:

Beau Bridges will play Jim Rockford’s truck driver father, Rocky, in NBC’s ‘Rockford Files’ reboot starring Dermot Mulroney.

Tate Donovan (‘Damages’) has landed a role in the pilot for ‘No Ordinary Family,’ ABC’s drama about a family whose members have special abilities.

Jennifer Ferrin (‘As the World Turns’) is the wife of the titular cop-turned-costumed crimefighter in NBC’s ‘The Cape.’

• ‘High School Musical’ star Ashley Tisdale is the cheer captain in ‘Hellcats,’ The CW’s Tom Welling-produced drama about competitive cheerleading.
