CBS is poised to add a Magnum to its arsenal of dramas, with Tom Selleck nearing a deal to headline one of the network’s fall pilots.
In a multigenerational drama about a family of lawmen, Selleck would play Michael, a highly commended NYPD police chief, says the Hollywood Reporter. Michael lives with his father (Len Cariou), a former top cop now working for the mayor.
Donnie Wahlberg plays Michael’s son, who is an NYPD detective.
If Selleck and CBS strike a deal, it’d mark the first series regular gig for TV’s erstwhile ‘Magnum P.I.‘ since he joined ‘Las Vegas‘ mid-run. In recent years, Selleck has starred in CBS’ series of ‘Jesse Stone‘ movies.
