Before you get your panties in a bunch, Jane Lynch was only joking.

When asked how she feels about Megan Mullally replacing her on ‘Party Down,’  the ‘Glee‘ funnylady quipped to Fancast, “Megan is a perfect fit. They love her maybe more than me. It’s very hard to see.”

Lynch, who has been pals of Mullally’s for years, adds, “She is terrific for this show. I love ‘Party Down’ and if it were a perfect world, I’d still be on it. It was one of the highlights of my life. I love doing ensemble, so it’s wonderful.”

As previously reported, Mullally plays a middle-aged stage mom named Lydia Dunfree who moves from a small town to L.A. so her daughter can audition for pilot season. “Her character is kind of goofy and a little oblivious,” adds Lynch. “She’s hilarious.”

On Adam Scott (Henry Pollard)’s departure from the show, Lynch jokes, “I’m kind of glad he’s leaving, so I’m not the only one. He was the heart and soul of that show, but it is an ensemble. I think they should replace him with a female character…maybe someone who has given up on being an actor; maybe someone on her way to 40. I’d actually like to see Andrea Savage come back on. She was in our pilot [as Casey]. She would be perfect.” (Savage also guest-starred in episode 202 this season playing the mother in the pre-school auction episode.)

Ah, from Lynch’s lips to the showrunner’s ears!

As for Scott, who is joining ‘Parks and Recreation,’ a rep for Starz says that he has completed the entire second season, which starts back up on April 23 at 10 p.m. “If the series is picked up for a third season, he will probably appear in at least three episodes,” says the rep.
